Do you have family members or friends with disabilities and struggle to know what to say or how to act around them? Our Joni and Friends’ Christian Institute on Disability (CID) has created a powerful course of study focusing on the theology of suffering, as well as practical ways to minister to special needs families. We encourage you to come to the International Disability Center in 2012 to take our Beyond Suffering certificate course… or, you may purchase the BYS curriculum complete with a leader’s guide and DVD videos. Start a Bible study in your church with this powerful new resource, or make it a part of your personal Bible study plan.  Either way, you’ll be blessed by the soul-stirring insights and “… prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have…” (1 Peter 3:15).

I'm 38 and I admit I don't know all the scripture on suffering. I DO know I watch who I fellowship with after being buried emotionally. People can't handle what I have to do to survive. They are squeemish and sometimes laugh it off. Sometimes they do not believe me and I pity they have not suffered like me because maybe they would see more how God loves deeply. I'm at the bottom again, infusing an IV of c-1 blood product about every day. I do the IV myself. Its more independant. I try to be sfronger

May I please have more info regarding this course as I am disabled myself from work injury and was in Nursing & counseling now am looking grow in my counseling to aid others and serve them that way! and also have Theology background and Spiritutal counseling background! I do not understand why there has to be so much suffering in the world. I suffer from epilepsy, boils, diabetes, and bipolar. I volunteer as I can no longer work. God is using me here in the Philippines. I do receive social security disability based on the years I did keep a job. However, Joni has been an inspiration to me. There was a time I wanted to end my life in the midst of pain and suffering. But thanks be to God; through her testimony I was shown a different way.

I would love to approach my church with this information...since i have a child with down syndrome i would like to be an advocate for all in my local church with disabilities. Could you send me some information or direct me on how to get started! Thank you!

Dear Joni, this world is suffering intensely and the solution to that problem starts with our faith in the Lord Jesus.May your course "Beyond Suffering" open the eyes of many for the spiritual need this world has and come to a closer knowledge of God.
