joni receiving check from kids who raised support to buy a wheelchair

Recently students from Bethany Christian School near Los Angeles toured the Joni and Friends International Disability Center – they learned about disability awareness, our Family Retreats, and Wheels for the World. During their tour, they stopped by Joni’s office to present a check for $250. Said one student, “We raised this money by collecting recyclable bottles and cans!” Before their visit ended, one of the parents accompanying the group decided to “match” the amount – this sponsors Bibles, disability ministry training, and two Regency pediatric wheelchairs to be delivered by Wheels for the World to needy disabled children overseas. Our special thanks to the boys and girls at Bethany Christian school. Why not find out how you can add to their gift?!

I love the idea of children working together for a great cause like this. I have a handicapped brother in a wheelchair, so wheelchairs have always been a part of my life. My mother has supported Wheels for the World for many years already :) Recently a new magazine got published, called the Blindfold Magazine. Their focus is on people and companies who are doing things outside of the box, with a focus on giving back. I write for one of their blogs once a week. This week I am choosing to write about Wheels for the World! :) Thank you for doing the awesome work you are, and may God bless you tenfold! Sincerely, Ruth Martin

Dear Joni, What a good initiative to raise money for the work of JAF! I am sure God has blessed it too.
