Keep up the pursuit

Gideon's ArmySometimes we can miss a powerful lesson, if we read too fast. And I’m glad Ken and I were reading slowly when were in the book of Judges. Because in chapter 8, verse 4, it says: “Gideon and his three hundred men, exhausted yet keeping up the pursuit, came to the Jordan and crossed it.” We know that Gideon’s troops were exhausted; they were completely worn out — yet they kept up the pursuit. Don’t you love that? It’s a short, but potent little lesson about pressing on, especially when our circumstances are hard and painful. And it’s a good lesson for Ken and I, as we just got home from very busy trips (recently Ken was in Cuba serving with Wheels for the World). So friend, whether you’re exhausted from travel, or the battles of chronic pain, or the day-to-day routines of parenting — remember that you, too, can press on by the grace of God. Keep up the pursuit!
