Katherine Wolf is a beautiful woman –after she married and graduated from college, Katherine and her husband Jay moved to Malibu where she pursued a career in modeling and acting. Jay began law school at Pepperdine University, and a couple of years later, Katherine gave birth to their handsome little son, James. But in April 2008, Katherine collapsed on the floor and was unresponsive. She had suffered a brain stem stroke. After 40 days in ICU, multiple surgeries, and months of rehab, Katherine has resumed an incredibly normal life. Not just a normal life, a life full of hope and joy and trust in God’s daily provision in the face of difficulty. Anyone who meets this remarkable young woman is struck by how unself-conscious she seems to be about her paralyzed right side, her slurred speech and need to walk with a cane. Not long ago, Katherine tripped and broke her leg. “No worries” she said, even after the doctors put a metal rod inside her leg. “After all,” she quipped, “it’s already my ‘bad leg.’” This incredibly beautiful, yet scarred woman is a bright ray of sunshine and I am so blessed, so inspired, and so honored to call her a friend.
