Family Retreat

It can be all too common to hear special-needs families say, “We don’t always feel like our family is loved and accepted.” All year long, families caring for a disabled child live on the brink of exhaustion, isolation and discouragement. Disability demands every ounce of energy and can rip even the strongest marriages apart. These families need your help! Meet the Boles family—Rob, Heather, Peyton, Mason and Jackson, who has autism. They attended Family Retreat for the first time this summer and experienced God’s love!

At Retreat, families experience genuine support and family bonding time. “From the moment we arrived, our family had an instant connection with our kids’ Short Term Missionaries (STMs). Our family felt safe, affirmed, and we were able to relax knowing our kids were comfortable and having a great time,” says Rob.

Special-needs families come to a place where their lives and hearts are renewed. Heather shared with us, “Our life is chaotic. All our days are planned out—minute by minute with little time for rest. Disability demands every ounce of energy from you. Our family was able to recharge and release the tension we carry every day.”

Marriages are healed and hope is restored at Family Retreat. “I’ve learned to appreciate Heather more this week. This time has been reaffirming and reassuring for our marriage. The people at Retreat met us where we were. Sponsoring a family is one of the greatest gifts you can give to a special-needs family,” Rob says wholeheartedly. Thank you for your love-in-action towards families affected by disability. Sign up to serve at a Family Retreat, or sponsor a special-needs family today!

I thank God for Joni & Friends--all outreach programs & projects--I sooo appreciate how you allow God to minister through you to all of us. I appreciate the 'nutshell' daily devotionals I listen to on the way to work everyday on KVIP, and I get the devotional emails. I'm sending loving gratitude to each of you for whom ministering to Jesus through us/others is such a wonderful endeavor. Loving blessings to each of you.

Thanks for sharing this amazingly blessed family. We are dear friends, with the Bokes, and cherish the common bond of having special needs in our families. God knew these kids were going to shape us into the parents and families we are today! Joni & friends + Mission Springs is amazing! We need to get there!
