The Hodel Annual Christmas Feast

Ever since the start of my radio ministry, the Hodel family has been sponsoring the Joni and Friends radio program. Bob and Muriel, along with their son Don and daughter-in-law Cindy, are such lovely, God-fearing people. Plus, they’re amazing cooks! The Hodels are the owners of “Hodel’s Country Dining” — a family-run restaurant serving delicious, home-style meals in Bakersfield since 1967. And because the Hodels are all about keeping tradition… last week, the Hodels drove all the way from Bakersfield to once again personally serve our Joni and Friends staff a delectable, annual Christmas lunch-in. And boy did we feast! We ate fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy, pies galore… and of course, their famous “glorified rice” (a sweet, rice desert that always has my husband Ken reaching for seconds!). It was such a treat, and we cannot thank the Hodel family enough for their generosity. So friend, if you’re ever driving through Bakersfield, CA you must dine at Hodel’s Country Dining! 🙂
