From the Heart

Joni and Ken

Shortly after I broke my neck, I met a young man in rehab who told me he had been in a wheelchair for eight years. I gulped! Eight weeks of paralysis seemed impossible, but eight years?! It was unimaginable to me, a spinal-cord injured teenager who still retched at the thought of having to live the rest of my life sitting down without use of my hands.

Yet, here I’ve been living without use of my hands and legs for almost 50 years. I shake my head in amazement, look back and wonder, how did I make it to this point? And how have I done it, for the most part, with a smile?

It’s all because of God, His grace, and loving Christians. The grace-filled believers that God brought into my life made all the difference. And now, Joni and Friends is doing the same with other hurting people – together, you and our teams are showing special-needs families that our ever-faithful God can be trusted! It’s why every morning as I ride in the van to Joni and Friends, I almost always sing that beautiful hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” And I have every confidence He’ll be faithful in the future.

Bless you for helping us share that same message to special-needs families. Thank you for your partnership which helps us introduce so many more people with disabilities to our always-faithful Father in heaven and His Son, Jesus!
