Friday, July 2nd Update:

Today was my first real day of feeling like myself – four days after pretty serious surgery :-). And just to prove it, I posted a quick video of me and my sister. Ken and I are so grateful for Kathy’s help this week and I think she may even extend her stay! Today I worked with a physical therapist who helped us improve our technique on transferring me from my bed to my wheelchair. Tomorrow, an occupational therapist will show us the new range-of-motion routines I need to work on for my arm – my right arm is the one with which I feed myself using a bent spoon in my arm splint, so a strong right arm is essential. Thank you SO MUCH for praying – the Lord Jesus is being so sweet to me, so precious and near. In the night when it’s a little difficult to sleep, Psalm 10:17 is a real blessing, “You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry.” Tomorrow Ken and I will celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary – we’ll do it over Maryland crab cakes and anniversary cake as we enjoy reading the many cards, emails and posts on Joni’s Corner. Happy 4th of July – I’ll be back in touch after the holiday. Again, thank you for praying!
