A Father’s Faith is Strengthened
When Genesis was born with cerebral palsy, her mother left, refusing to care for or accept her daughter’s disability. As a single father, Orlando loves and cares for Genesis dearly, but felt discouraged and defeated knowing he couldn’t provide her with the wheelchair she needed.
“Our life is very difficult,” Orlando shared with us. “I’ve lost a lot of opportunities at work because I’ve asked for more time off to take care of my daughter. Buying a wheelchair is an impossible dream for me. I would never save enough money because I’d have to use it all for food.”
Orlando watched as our volunteer Wheels for the World physical therapists and mechanics tenderly and perfectly fit Genesis into her very own wheelchair. Orlando was moved with emotions when he saw the joy and smile come across his daughter’s face!
“I do my best every week to take Genesis to church. What gives me hope is knowing that one day, Genesis will have a glorified body. But now, I know that God is helping her here. I don’t have enough words to thank you for what you’ve done for my daughter and me. You’re one of the few who remember and want to help us in our difficulty. I thank God that people like you exist. God bless you. There’s so many like us waiting…”
