Our first International Family Retreat of the season concluded last week at the El Faro retreat center on the Caribbean coast of Guatemala – 16 Guatemalan families and their disabled family members took part in an extraordinary week of arts and crafts, swimming, games, prayer, singing, one-on-one counseling, and devotional times in God's Word. It was extraordinary because these families, for the most part, live in severe poverty and have little chance for respite or time to reflect on the claims that Christ makes on their lives.

Some arrived tired, skeptical, nervous… and with sad faces. By the end of the week, it was a joyous celebration of families coming together, in laughter and tears, having experienced the love and power of God in a way never imagined. Joni and Friends is grateful for our partners in Guatemala at Bethel Ministries for helping to host a fantastic retreat Guatemalan-style – and we praise God that seven adults and six children gave their lives to Jesus Christ during the retreat. Please be in prayer for our next international Family Retreat scheduled for Serbia April 23-30 (with a pastor's conference included)!

Thank you for going down to minister in Guatemala! Although I am American, my husband is from Guatemala. I have been able to visit there four times and have left a peice of my heart there. It is very encouraging when we see wonderful, Christ-centered ministries like Joni and Friends helping the warm people of Guatemala. Thank you again!

Happy Easter to all at Joni and Friends from Baltimore!!! may our Lord Jesus Christ, who is our God and Friend, pour out His richest and greatest blessings this coming year, that you have always dreamed of, but never experienced. Amen. I like to pray big prayers, because we have a big God.
