joni playing chopsticksBefore I broke my neck, I took 10 years of piano lessons – and of all the things I miss as a quadriplegic, I really miss playing the piano. So you can imagine my delight when at Family Retreat I was offered the chance to play "Chopsticks" with my husband Ken! (He had to be taught the lower part :-). It was the first time in 45 years I "made music" on a keyboard, and was I thrilled! This is why Ken and I so love Family Retreats. As a couple with a disability, we get ministered to right alongside the rest of the special-needs families. Five top-notch Family Retreats will be underway across the US this week, so join us in asking God to open weary hearts to the healing hope of Jesus Christ!

Joni, have you ever tried using Garageband for the iPad? It is an amazing way to make music with just a few touches of the screen! I've even used it to lead worship before.

Dear Joni, I used to play the piano well. But be- cause of a mental illness that talent is difficult to use.I even have had lessons at the conservatory of Amsterdam. My favorite composer is JS Bach. I loved to play the Italian Concerto (third part:Presto) by heart. I now play the guitar and sing songs to praise my Lord.In heaven God will restore our talents and there will be joy in abundance!

I think it would be such a blessing to help out at such a camp. God bless you, Joni, for all of your service as a child of God!

Joni, I had forgotten that you were a pianist. I'm so glad God gave you this keyboard experience. I was a piano major, and was told by my oncologist when I went through chemo for breast cancer that I might have neuropathy in my hands. I drop things easily, but can still play piano. I play His praises whenever I get a chance, and now I will always think of you as I do. Maybe we can play a duet in heaven. (p.s. my favorite piano duet is "Sheep May Safely Graze" by Bach., so get ready)

This reminds me of your TV program where the one singer was told she would not be able to sing again & her friend Voice teacher? said; "I don't care if you never walk again(quadriplegic), but you gotta sing♫ And she put weights on her diaphragm & it was strengthened & walla---she sang beautifully♫ Is this your new pencil in the mouth= great artist start at being a pianist Joni? I wonder as you do everything with your whole heart♥)))
