Fall’s Arrived

Fall’s ArrivedDuring a recent trip back east, I was so hoping to see a little Fall color – but as we drove from Maryland to New York, hardly an oak or a maple tree was turning yellow or orange. We were too early for the change of leaves. When we flew home to Los Angeles, I was hoping to feel the cooler temperatures of Fall, but it wasn’t to be — it was 90 degrees, just as when we left. When Ken and I pulled up into our driveway, gathered our things, and proceeded up the front walk, I glanced at our myrtle tree in the front yard — but even its leaves were still green.

However, I dropped everything when we reached our front porch. While we were gone, my friend, Francie, decorated our entrance way with Fall-colored pumpkins, leaves, gourds, corn, and sunflowers (her ‘early’ October birthday present to me)! Finally, I had found what I was looking for… Fall had come home! Genesis 8:22 says, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” My front porch Fall display is, to me, a reminder that although the season is changing, our changeless God is always faithfully the same. Here’s hoping you’re enjoying this wonderful change of seasons!
