We met this special 6-year-old when his father, Feliciano, brought him to our Wheels for the World outreach in Peru – Feliciano shared that Erick spent all his time in bed; the only time his son saw daylight was when Feliciano carried him outside. Erick couldn’t go to school because they wouldn’t accept a disabled child unless he had a suitable wheelchair. Our Wheels physical therapist, Dan, began stretching little Erick’s heels and ankles – after some time, the stiff muscles began to loosen up. That’s when Dan decided to try something extraordinary. He lifted Erick and stood him up on his wobbly legs. Dan had to carefully assist, but within time, Erick was able to ‘walk’ across the room! Feliciano was absolutely overjoyed and gladly took down notes as Dan gave instructions for Erick’s physical therapy to be done at home. He wrote down every word, nodding with excitement he could hardly contain. This little boy and his daddy opened their hearts to receive Jesus that day; we introduced them to a local pastor who was sharing the Gospel at our outreach – the pastor was happy to invite Feliciano and Erick to church! Read more about Erick’s story in this month’s support letter from Joni and Friends!
