Ellen Dibler… My Inspiration!

Joni and Ellen DiblerWhen it comes to handling the daily challenges of a disability, I draw inspiration from older women who are blazing the trail – like my friend Ellen who has spina bifida and is 72 years old. She is, in fact, the oldest surviving person with spina bifida. In years past, she was very active in helping to shape the policy of the National Spina Bifida Association, but now, she and her husband Larry invest their energies as volunteers and powerful prayer warriors for our Joni and Friends outreach in Texas (we snapped this photo at the recent Camp Allen Family Retreat where Ellen served on the prayer team). With her exuberance for life, her wisdom, and her gentle spirit, all I can say is, “I want to be like Ellen when I grow up :-)!” Yep, I thank God for the way “the older women can teach the younger” (Titus 2:3-4). Feel free to drop Ellen a word of encouragement on the Joni and Friends Texas Facebook page.
