An Elaborate Graduation

Graduation

When I hear stories of people serving the disability community with extravagance, I rejoice! That’s just what The Fox Five TV Surprise Squad did at John F. Miller Elementary School—a school for students with significant disabilities. There were 5 students in the graduating class of 2017 and although the school wanted to make the ceremony special, they were limited by finances—much of their budget goes to medical care. So, when the TV’s “Squad” asked if they could plan the graduation celebration, the principal was delighted.

Friend, you just have to see how this television team transformed the school’s gym. It’s a beautiful picture of Luke 14:13-14. “But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed.” I’m not sure who was blessed more by this festive banquet – the students, their families, the staff or those who made it happen. One thing is sure, many blessings flowed as will your tears when you see those kids’ faces. Have tissues handy!
