One wheelchair can change a whole family – because every wheelchair you send goes with your prayers. “I am a new Christian but my husband is not,” shared Chan, at our Wheels for the World outreach to China. Unable to walk since birth, Chan has been carried for 40 years – and for the last 20 years her devoted husband, Li, has been her only caregiver. Li watched intently as his wife’s wheelchair was custom fit by Wheels for the World therapists and mechanics. He couldn’t take his eyes off the wheelchair that will change both of their lives. He wiped away a tear that ran down his face. “May we share Joni’s story with you?” our team member asked. Li nodded and the beautiful story of blessing from brokenness was shared. The Gospel message of redemption and hope rang out. Chan nodded and smiled and sneaked a peek at her husband. He has never given his heart to Jesus, but today he saw God’s love for himself in your gift of a wheelchair. Chan’s husband opened the new Bible sent by you, and began to read. Chan whispered, “The wheelchair is a comfort and it proves to my husband that God is real. The message of God’s love is real. Eternity is real. I know and trust God, and now my husband has heard about Him too. Thank God for you!”
