Ken and JoniAs we grow older, or a family member ages or sustains a life-altering disability, we’re often quick to say, “I don’t want to be a burden.” And with 48 years of quadriplegia, I’m the first to confess that thought has crossed my mind. But when it comes to families — especially Christian families — it’s our calling to depend upon one another. In a society that boasts individualism, the Christian family can showcase sacrificial service to the world. God designed my disability not to make me “independent,” but “interdependent.” That’s the beauty...

Joni interviewed on 100 Huntley StreetIn 1967, a reckless dive into shallow water completely changed my life. I was only 17 and doctors were telling me I would never be able to use my hands or legs again. Those were dark days back then — days filled with anger towards God; days when I would tell my sister, “Just close the drapes, turn off the lights, shut the...

Doors for the Gospel are opening up in Cuba as never before. This brief video of our recent Wheels for the World distribution in Cuba was broadcast on Cuban National Television – they even mentioned that Joni and Friends is a Christian ministry. I'm so grateful to God that we can not only deliver wheelchairs in Cuba, but distribute Bibles and introduce special-needs families to Jesus Christ! Even if you don't know...

Our busy season of Family Retreats is right around the corner, and with so many new special-needs families signing up, we are in need of more volunteers, or Short-Term Missionaries (STMs) as we like to call them. We have a big need for men – many of our campers are young boys or teens with disabilities. My friend Jason volunteered for the first time last summer and LOVED it – take a look at his brief message, then get all the details for serving at Family Retreats here!

Join us as we lift up our President, Senate, Congress, governors and teachers; pray for the generations to come, the persecuted Church, and our men and women in uniform. X-ray of a human skeletonAlmost every month, there seem to be new advancements in spinal cord injury cure/treatment. A man with a completely severed spinal cord has walked again with the help of some cells from his nose. After a knife attack, Darek Fidyka, a 38-year-old Bulgarian, was paralyzed from the chest down for four years. Scientists from Britain and Poland took stem cells from his nasal passages, transplanted them into his back and 're-grew'...

Caleb BundyFor parents Steve and Melissa Bundy, parenting their teenage son Caleb who has autism is not easy. Because Caleb is nonverbal, his parents must communicate with him through a picture communication board. A simple trip to the grocery store may require the assistance of therapist — not to mention a lot of prayer for Caleb to remain calm during the shopping trip. And then there are the unwelcome stares and comments: people referring to Caleb as “retarded” or criticizing Melissa’s parenting. But Caleb does not have mental delays; rather, Caleb learns differently. And Melissa and Steve love and care for their children with all their heart...
