Reformation Day Celebration!Today is a very big celebration for the church. Why? Because today, we're celebrating the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s reformation. And that is quite a big deal! Just as a refresher, Martin Luther was a German priest back in the late 1400s; he came to disagree with the Catholic view on several biblical teachings and wanted...

God Preserves His WordIt was three weeks after Hurricane Harvey when Stephen and his family returned to their home in Texas -- all their personal belongings were stacked out in front of their house. Slowly, Stephen began to sift through the slimy mess looking for anything salvageable. Just when he thought everything worth saving had been picked through, he noticed an untouched area. Among the items, he found his missing cowboy boot, their mailbox, and several destroyed books. However, under the debris, Stephen spotted their treasured Beyond Suffering Bible. Quickly, he grabbed...

I Can Only Hold You NowMore than 30 years ago, my friend Gracie was only 17 and in college, studying hard, keeping late nights… when one night, while driving on the highway, she fell asleep at the wheel. Her car careened off the road, into a ditch, and slammed against a concrete abutment. It was a horrific accident. She was rushed to the hospital, and remained in a coma for three weeks. Every bone from the waist down was broken — one surgeon counted nearly 200 fractures! Eventually, both legs had to be amputated. As you can imagine, Gracie deals with a significant amount of chronic pain. Thankfully though, she has her Peter — her husband and college sweetheart, who helps care for her daily. Peter and Gracie know all too well the...

Our “Beyond Suffering” Curriculum… in Ukraine! It’s amazing what God can do with willing hearts! More than 10 years ago, I met Serhii and his disabled wife, Natalia, when they were visiting our Joni and Friends’ headquarters. The Joni book in Russian had helped them tremendously as a couple...

Revive Us 2I want to tell you about a special event to be held October 24 (encore performance November 1). That evening, Revive Us 2 will be live-streamed in theaters all across America. This is a great way for the body of Christ to come together and be strengthened, encouraged, and unified in praying for our nation. I’m sure you’d agree, with all that’s happening in our country, we need to be praying together. Kirk Cameron, along with Dr. Ben Carson, Ravi Zacharias, and I will bring Holy Spirit inspired messages. Friend, this is an exciting time — God is moving and creating opportunities for us to invite others to put their hope in Christ, but we can’t do it...

Through the RoofAt Joni and Friends, we love to reflect on God’s good works, and this year we’ve been celebrating quite a few milestones: 50 years in my wheelchair and 35 years of our radio outreach. But we’re not the only ones celebrating anniversaries. Through the Roof, our good friends and charter ministry partners in the UK, are also rejoicing...

Sib's Sign

During a recent, busy trip back east, Ken and I were scurrying from one ministry event to the next, juggling flights, hotels, and crowded freeways. Our schedule was rigorous and, I will admit, exhausting. On one leg of our journey, we flew into BWI from Nashville, and then made the long drive up Interstate 81 to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As we unloaded at the home of Sib Charles, a dear friend and staff member of Joni and Friends/PA, I felt a soothing breeze – the sun was just setting over the farms and cornfields beyond her front door. After slowly inspecting the flowers in the backyard, I wheeled into Sib and Jess's kitchen. The first thing I spotted was this sign; actually, the first thing I saw...

Wheels in PrisonsWheels for the World depends not only on prayer, donations, volunteers, and people with disabilities… its success depends on hundreds of inmates in 16 prisons across the country. Joni and Friends works with correctional facilities to establish Wheels for the World restoration shops where inmates work hard to refurbish used but...
