Bethany KidsI love whenever I hear there’s a tour of students from a Christian school visiting the IDC – many of these students pray for our outreach at Joni and Friends, and as they’ve grown older, some have even volunteered at a few Family Retreats! Recently, young people from Bethany Christian School came for a return visit...

UgandaMy friends, Adrienne and Francis Mugwanya, often help us when either Wheels for the World or our Cause4Life interns travel to Uganda. They have an outreach in Uganda called The Father’s Heart Mobility Ministry, and they love helping us distribute wheelchairs, Bibles, and Joni books to Ugandans with disabilities...

Angel PaintingThis painting hangs in my bedroom and whenever I lie down at night, I so enjoy gazing on it from my bed.  The big, powerfully fierce Angel, is waiting and ready to ward off any dark spirit that dare encroach on that child.  It reminds me that there are, indeed, ministering spirits that have been sent by God to help protect and comfort me...and you, too....

Cause 4 LifeToday we just posted the new schedule for 2017 Cause 4 Life internships - vocational and global internships where you can either serve here at the International Disability Center or travel with us overseas to minister among people with disabilities. Caleb Cameron served as one of our 2016 interns, and we absolutely loved the contributions he was able to make to the ministry...

ASOGGod created you and me for one purpose: to showcase His glory — to enjoy it, display it, and demonstrate it every day to everyone we encounter. What does it mean to put His glory on display? It means making hard choices to do the right thing. Keeping your tongue from gossiping, going out of your way for a neighbor in need, not snapping back when someone hurts you, or speaking openly about your Father in heaven...

True WomanAs the political climate heats up, I find myself praying for the United States more than ever and I know I’m not alone. It makes me thankful for ministries like True Woman who has been equipping and encouraging the church to commit to praying for our country. And today, I am privileged to be a part of their...

Prop 106On Election Day, November 8, voters in Colorado will decide on Proposition 106, the "End-Of-Life Options Act." The bill is patterned after existing laws in Oregon, California, and other states. One slogan I've heard among the proponents of Proposition 106 goes "An assisted dying law would not result in more people dying, but in fewer people suffering."  Slogans like that sound catchy, but clever phrases can be deceptive...

BirthdayI love this time of year -- just look at this fall color on our crepe myrtle in the front yard! I also love October because I get to celebrate another amazing year of life! As a quadriplegic, I do not take the years for granted; I realize each one is a Spirit-sent gift. It’s why I'm praising the Lord for keeping me healthy and strong these 67 years. This year, I'm claiming Psalm 119:50 as my guide, “My comfort in suffering is this:  Your promises renew my life.”

ASOGFinally, after months of prayer, research, writing and revisions, I am pleased to tell you that my new daily devotional book A Spectacle of Glory is now released. It's full of fresh insights that I gleaned from my recent battle against cancer, and my daily struggle with pain. During hard days, I made my spirit ‘come into alignment’ with the Lord, knowing that His purpose in my pain is that I might glorify Jesus. Just what does that look like?

Chair CorpsFor years, Forrest Riddle has been collecting wheelchairs for our Wheels for the World outreach. Not only does he collect chairs, but he loves teaching people in his church and community about disability awareness. Through his efforts, he has raised a lot of funds for Wheels, and recently he came to our International Disability Center to present his latest gift. I have been trying to talk him into serving on a Wheels for the World team, but Forrest insists his giftedness remains on the ‘front end’ collecting chairs! We are thankful for Forrest and the other 340...
