Cassie and JoniMeet Cassie, a recent graduate of Cal Baptist University's Masters program in Disability Ministry Studies (CBU uses our Beyond Suffering curriculum and the class is taught by our own Dr. Jeff McNair). She's all ready to go wherever God sends her – and what a sweet smile, big heart and gracious spirit she has. Onward and upward, Cassie, to that next door of service the Lord opens for you!

chapelYears ago, Ken and I visited the Sistine Chapel while we were in Rome – as an artist, I was so excited to get an up-close look at Michelangelo's masterpiece. Unfortunately, it was way too crowded to enjoy the artwork. But now, you can take an amazing virtual tour of the Sistine Chapel – it's possible to view every part of Michelangelo's work, from the ceiling to the floor! Just click and drag your arrow slowly in the direction of the part you wish to see. To move closer, use the scroll button on your mouse, or click on the plus (+) or the minus sign (-) in the corner. And the choir? Well, that's thrown in for free. Take your time… It's an inspiring thing to do a Sunday afternoon!

Today the women of Church in the Canyon in Calabasas, California will be gathering with their sewing baskets – they will be stitching pocket-bags to be distributed with wheelchairs delivered this year through Wheels for the World! The last time they met, they sewed 70 pocket-bags, and they hope to do more today. My word to these precious women? "This service that you perform is overflowing and many expressions of thanks to God" (II Corinthians 9:12). Would you like to get your sewing circle involved? Then drop a line to our Wheels for the World team!

A Fruitful Reminder

Joni at the produce standLast weekend we drove through the flatlands of Camarillo, passing fields of strawberries, melons, and more – it meant we had to stop at a produce stand! Wheeling down the aisles of fruit and vegetables, I marveled at God's abundant (and colorful) provision. God could nourish us on gray, bland pills; instead, He gives us a wonderful variety of things to eat! And when it comes to fruit, even more amazing is Galatians 5:21-22, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." If today, God is 'tilling the soil of your soul' through a hard trial, stay rooted in the faith, watered by His Word, and energized by the Son – a harvest of righteousness is coming!

Joni and Ken at the AirportPlease pray for Ken and me, and Rainey as we travel to Minnesota this week for events connected with Joni and Friends Minneapolis, Bethel University, and the University of Northwestern (the college-connection is to foster interest in our Christian Institute on Disability and our Beyond Suffering curriculum). It promises to be a busy schedule, so I would be grateful if you'd ask God for traveling mercies, rest and strength, safety, the Spirit's anointing on my messages, happy attitudes, strong backs (for Ken and Rainey the will be lifting me), and lots of opportunities to share Christ's Gospel. Thank you! And I'll be posting updates as we go :-)…

Anne Graham Lotz speakingOne of the most fascinating statements in Scripture has to be 1 Thessalonians 4:17, "After [the dead in Christ rise first], we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." Many have wondered what that will look like, and how the world will respond to millions missing. Anne Graham Lotz has an idea, and you can read all about it here. Her point? "I believe God is sending us a signal. It's time for His people to wake up!" I couldn't agree more… The Lord is on his way back, so be quick to share His Gospel!

Joni and Lori in front of MoxieLast weekend we drove out to the Channel Islands Harbor for fish and chips – while meandering the docks, we realized we were near the home of our co-worker Lori, Manager of Visual Media at Joni and Friends. But I want you to know Lori's "home" is a 34 foot sailboat (she named her boat Moxie, a character quality she does not lack :-)! After a fun visit, all the way home I kept singing this beautiful old hymn that my father, who served in the merchant marines, taught me (and Lori, it's my prayer for you). "Jesus, Savior...

Billy Graham Crusade in Moscow, RussiaVic guessed correctly on the Pinterest photo – the picture was snapped in 1991 when I was in Moscow, Russia to help prepare for Billy Graham’s Crusade (which was held in 1992 in the stadium pictured here). It was such a privilege to speak in Russian churches and pave the way for Mr. Graham’s evangelistic outreach. But why the babushka? The Iron Curtain had only recently come down and many Christians still held fast to old traditions (although, wearing a head covering in church is a very biblical idea :-). Thanks to all who participated in the contest; a $25 Amazon gift card is in the mail today to Vic!
