Resurrection painting by Ron DiCianni
One of the most stirring lines in the modern hymn "In Christ Alone" is those wonderful words, "There in the ground His body lay, Light of the World by darkness slain. Then bursting forth in glorious Day, up from the grave He rose again!" Join the mighty chorus of saints across the globe who are, no doubt, singing that hymn of praise today… Oh happy day, He is risen; He is risen indeed! Enjoy that awesome thought as you ponder this painting by my friend, Ron DiCianni. See more of his art here.

Every year around this time – right before Easter – a certain plant comes alive on my patio with bright, red blossoms. It is the "Crown of Thorns" bush and I always enjoy drawing close to it to examine its delicate flowers… as well as its huge, thick, nail-like thorns. Tradition says this was the bush from which the Roman soldiers fashioned Jesus' thorny crown. I don't know if that's true, but just gazing at the "Crown of Thorns" is a vivid reminder of the pain and sacrifice...

During our visit to the NRB convention, we enjoyed some downtime in our hotel room with Kristyn Getty and her daughter Eliza (far right). Kristyn brought along the band's fiddle player Debbie (far left) holding her son, Simon; that's my friend Judy in the middle cuddling his little brother. Where's Keith? He snapping the photo :-). We drew pictures, sang, talked of the future, prayed, and harmonized on a parting hymn. This being Easter week, I'm humming all sorts of Getty hymns – watch this video of a favorite "O Church Arise" (yes, that's Debbie on fiddle).…

focus on the family logoOn Wednesday, March 27, Focus on the Family will be re-airing a broadcast in which I share a unique perspective on 2 Peter 3:7-9, "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." I think the insights will really bless you, so to tune in if you're able (and if you can't be near a radio, then tomorrow, click on this link to hear the program :-).

Last week on my radio program, I offered three of my spring cards (and envelopes) to our listeners, and it's exciting to see the response. So over the weekend I thought, Hey, why not offer the same gift to my friends on the blog? So when you have a minute, visit my radio page and listen to the March 22 program, or you can go directly to the radio offer page! Happy Spring!

I love it whenever God opens an opportunity for me to share my story on secular media – that happened a few days ago when I was part of a WebCam panel of 'encouraging stories' highlighted by Abby Huntsman with the Huffington Post. Some of the other people had pretty awesome stories, so when you have a minute, take a look :-). Click here to watch video.

Recently the young people from Mandarin Baptist Church of LA covenanted to go without speaking for 30 hours, all in an effort to understand how most of the world's 1 billion people with disabilities lack a voice in their cultures and countries. Each young person asked friends and relatives to "sponsor" them in an effort to raise funds for Wheels for the World. And just look how much they raised!! What does one do with so many 'quiet' hours? There were 'wordless' Bible studies, videos, and, yes, games to play. When V4V was completed, Aileen wrote me, "I never would've realized how "voiceless" people with disabilities feel. I always have a lot of things to say, and as I was trying to express myself, I felt no one was really understanding. Or they just gave up trying to figure it out. It taught me to be more patient with people with disabilities because no one likes to be ignored. This V4V was only for 30 hours, not even 1/millionth the time of what they experience. It was definitely not a thing where you forget and move on. I'm excited to start being a better servant of Christ. Thanks for letting us be a part of what God is doing through you and Joni and Friends." Thanks to everyone who participated in V4V; together we are "speaking up" on behalf of the world's disabled, giving them hope and help in Jesus Christ!

Daffodils on Joni's counterOne of my get-up girls just surprised me with a handful of fresh daffodils – we placed them on my bathroom counter so we could enjoy them as I was getting ready for the day. It prompted me to sing that hymn, "Fair are the meadows; Fair are the woodlands; And all the blooming garb of Spring… Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer, and makes the woeful heart to sing." I love this fresh, new season filled with so much life and color! May God open wide our eyes today to see his Hand in everything bright and beautiful around us, for "Flowers appear on the earth; and the season of singing has come" (Song 2:12).

Thank You!

Oh my goodness, Ken and I have been reading some of the comments you wrote over the weekend about Joni & Ken: An Untold Love Story (many of you were able to carve time to watch the video). People are thanking us for our transparency; frankly, I think that’s a real key to a close walk with Jesus – to admit our weaknesses, confess our struggle against sin and self-centeredness, and keep an open heart toward the Spirit’s scrutiny of our souls. So for you who have written us about our new book, thank you – your words are refreshing to our hearts!

Joni and Ken signing their new bookWe just received the first shipment of Joni & Ken: An Untold Love Story and, boy, are Ken and I busy signing books -- it’s all part of a special offer in this month’s ministry letter. Thankfully, we only have to sign a “limited supply” for this special offer; I'm thankful because after awhile, my jaw begins to ache (did I ever tell you that I was right-mouthed and not left-mouthed?!). What’s the ‘untold story’ in our new book? Well, when you have time, please listen to the message I posted on Joni’s Corner – for the first time, I share an intimate look at Ken’s...
