montana treesI just had to show you this extraordinary photo Ken snapped when he was in Montana last week for his last fly-fishing trip of the year – oh, the beauty and glory of God's hand in creation! Fall is here! And we will feel it today since we are right now in New York City. I'm taping several interviews, then we load up on the train and head south to Patrick Henry University (check my blog this week for up-to-date postings :-). Before we leave New York, however, we hope to visit the 9/11 Memorial on Sunday – I had the honor of speaking in NYC just two weeks after the terrorist attacks in 2001. But this time? We will walk the streets and pray over the city and its people, asking God for revival. Thanks for joining us in prayer, too!

joni reading scripture from a wall at the international disability centerIt's so good to be back at the International Disability Center after our trip to Indianapolis last week. And as I wheeled up the ramp to my office, I paused to read the last Bible verse on the landing. Isaiah 35:5-6 is stamped on that wall – as people in wheelchairs make the long climb up the ramp, they can be inspired by the reminder that, one day, "the eyes of the blind will be open, the tongues of those who cannot speak will shout for joy, and the lame shall leap like deer!" It's why I often don't take the elevator to the second floor, but choose the ramp; I don't want to miss that heartwarming reminder from Isaiah 35 – it's God's vision of a hopeful future, meant to inspire the exiles who were being dragged off to Babylon. God never sends his people into times of suffering without reminding them, "it won't always be this way; take courage and have heart. I will come for you, I will rescue you!" What great words to be reminded of every day when I come to work – and I hope it inspires and refreshes you today, too!

fuse 2012 graphicIf you're looking to learn more about disability ministry, or wish to strengthen the disability ministry already at your church, then the F.U.S.E. conference is for you. It's scheduled for October 19-20 in Columbus, Ohio -- so if you live in the Midwest, make plans to join us! The conference will focus on four key areas:

Foundations of Bioethics
Unseen Disabilities/Mental Health
Social Action and Church Advocacy
Equipping for Disability Ministry

Be ready to learn some of the cutting edge models of disability ministry happening across the U.S., including developing an outreach to families dealing with mental illness, and understanding the special challenges faced by Asian and African-American communities. Also, I will be giving a special message by video, so please make plans to be a part of the F.U.S.E. conference sponsered by our Joni and Friends team in Ohio. Early bird registration ends October 1 (discounts for groups of 4 or more and students). You can easily register online under our Upcoming Events page. Don't miss it!

joni studying before she speaksMy afternoon session with Nancy was a blessed time -- a great chance to encourage the women to be transparent, open, and vulnerable before the Lord and each other. And now? I have an hour to look at my notes back stage here in the Green Room before the evening session begins. Join us in asking God's Spirit to pour out upon us believers across this nation and open the way for revival! And please listen in to my message on the live-stream tonight!

true woman logoIt's Thursday evening and the True Woman conference in Indianapolis is just beginning. Nine thousand women from around the country are gathering in the convention center under the theme "Seeking the Lord Together for Revival." We are only moments away from Keith and Kristyn Getty ministering in music and then Nancy Leigh DeMoss will be giving the Opening Address. We are all asking God to send down the Spirit of revival across our land -- so please join us in prayer! You can take part by watching a live stream of the program online. Click here to register.

joni praying with people at true women conferenceThe True Woman Conference here in Indianapolis begins this evening, but this afternoon, we are gathering with all the speakers and workshop leaders to do some serious intercession on behalf of the 9000 women registered to attend. Today I spent time working on my message on forgiveness -- I'll be sharing the story of my quadriplegic friend, Vicky Olivas, who was shot 36 years ago during an attempted rape. Through the grace of our wonderful God, eventually she was able to forgive her assailant and develop an amazing testimony in Christ! If you'd like to watch her story, check out the Joni and Friends TV episode we did on her! The conference begins tonight -- thanks for joining us in prayer that revival in our country might begin in the hearts of all us women!

Joni Eareckson Tada with Nancy Leigh De MossToday, Rainey and Kathren and I are 'in the air,' as we fly to Chicago to begin our trip. We will stay overnight, rent a van, then head down the interstate on Tuesday for Indiana. On Wednesday, September 19, I will be speaking at Indiana Wesleyan University’s chapel service – I want these students to come volunteer at our Family Retreats and serve with us as interns (plus, I will be promoting our spring semester “Beyond Suffering” class at IWU). From there, we head to Indianapolis where I will be speaking at the True Woman Conference sponsored by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and the team at Revive our Hearts – it promises to be a soul-stirring time and it’s not too late to register, so pray about joining us! I'll be sharing more later… and thanks for praying!
