joni and grace at murrieta hot springsI have been so blessed reading your posts on my blog this past week – as I tackle my schedule (as you know, I'm at another Family Retreat this week), I'm keenly aware that I just couldn’t do it were it not for your amazing prayer support. I’m astounded at my energy, as well as my good health. It’s clear to me God is infusing strength and stamina through your prayers, and I am so grateful. Kierkegaard said, “In the language of of eternity, the suffering that helped you...

joni eareckson tadaA few of you may have missed the earlier announcement about the results of my PET scan -- even though weeks have passed by, Ken and I are STILL praising the Lord that the scan was all clear! Yes, I still must take daily medication to prevent the recurrence of any cancer, but for now, all looks good, doctors are happy, and we have every reason to let our hopes rise! Thank you for praying, friend, and I'll be certain to give you all the latest updates as they happen. One more thing. Ken wants me to add his thanks to you, too!

joni and ken in the radio studioThanks for praying me through that wonderful trip to Fort Worth Texas – we felt safe and protected by God every step of the way (and energized, too). And now, early Monday morning Ken and I are about to head into the radio recording studio to record the next issue of "Joni and Friends" radio programs, as well as 46 one-minute inspirational features (these are aired on hundreds of Christian radio stations...

joni and ken at the airportEarly Thursday morning, the 14th, Ken and I will be flying to Fort Worth Texas where I will be speaking at the national convention for Premier Designs – Andy and Joan Horner head up this remarkable home-jewelry company that invests significantly in worldwide missions that promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Last December, our longtime friend, Joan, was taken suddenly to Glory, and Andy has asked me to speak on the gift of Christian encouragement (a gift Joan was blessed with). Please pray for safety as we fly… strong backs and happy hearts… anointed conversations with everyone we encounter… and a Spirit-blessed...

joni and ken with the buckley family at the idcWhenever someone from out of town drops by to visit our International Disability Center, I always try to make time to greet them (and usually, I come away the one most blessed)! It happened when I met Jared Buckley and his wife, Stephanie, and their little girl, Fayth (who has Down syndrome). Jared is a pastor in Utah and when he and his wife first discovered Fayth was a 'Downs baby,'...

When Alicia broke her neck several years ago in an accident, a deep, angry depression overwhelmed her. This teenager wanted nothing to do with Family Retreats. Finally we persuaded Alicia and her parents to attend our retreat at Bonclarken, North Carolina – there, amidst other families learning to ‘make their way,’ Alicia opened her heart to Jesus. Praise God, her depression began to lift – everything felt new! A lot of other ‘new’ things happened at Family Retreat, too. Just listen to Alicia tell Joni her most amazing accomplishment at Family Retreat!

This week we welcomed Jim Daly and his team from Focus on the Family – they came for a tour of our International Disability Center and to record several interviews with me (to be aired on FOF in August). Jim and his staff do a great job of ministering to families across our nation, and they always refer families affected by disability to us here at Joni and Friends. Great partners in the Gospel, they are!

ken buying lunch for a soldier at the airportKen and I join you in celebrating our precious American freedoms! What's a practical way you can celebrate? Well, whenever Ken and I encounter anyone in uniform, we always smile and say, "Thank you for your service to our country!" Try it the next time you pass by a soldier in the airport :-). Not long ago, when we spotted a soldier at McDonald's, Ken went up, shook his hand, and happily paid his bill. You can personally minister to our brave men and women in uniform, too – consider volunteering at our next Wounded Warrior Getaway. Also, join us in praying for our country this weekend – post your prayer today. And speaking of prayer, I have LOVED reading your comments from my PET scan. Still waiting for results!
