Joel 1:4 says, "Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation." No doubt about it, the Bible insists we tell the Good News of Jesus to the children in our lives. It's why I asked the team at Joni and Friends to help me create a special Kids' Corner on our website –there are a ton of boys and girls out there we can reach (like the way my little friend Ashlie is reaching out to her buddy, Darcy). Our new Kids' Corner is launching June 1 and it's filled with games, puzzles, prizes, music, crafts, posters and pictures… most of all, our goal is to help young people see that Jesus Christ is their Very Best Friend! I'd be delighted to reach the heart of your child (or grandchild) with the love of our wonderful Savior – so the next time you visit our website...

That's because we serve so many military families who have either lost loved ones in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, or have had a family member return from tour of duty bearing significant wounds of conflict. Joni and Friends' Wounded Warrior Getaways have been acclaimed by top chaplain offices in the Armed Forces, and the outreach continues to grow - our next Getaway for disabled American servicemen and women and their families is filling up (it's in September and, yes, volunteers are needed)! Join us in praying for the Gospel to bear fruit among our brave men and women in the military (here's a snapshot of Joni speaking to 35 Army chaplains heading out for Iraq and Afghanistan). If you know of a wounded warrior and his family who would enjoy our Getaway, let us know. Or if you are a warrior, tell us about your recent tour of duty – just post the details below.

jean kingery helping joni eat cakeProverbs 25:11 says, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.” And that’s what Jean Kingery offers every day (pictured here helping me scarf down cake during this month’s staff birthday celebration). Jean serves as our Director of Correspondence (before coming to Joni and Friends, Jean and her family were missionaries in India for more than 20 years). She and her team read, pray over, and process hundreds of letters, emails and phone calls that pour into Joni and Friends every week...

doug and joni looking at ipadMany people ask me, "Joni, how can you do all that you do, plus run the ministry?" Well, this CEO has a secret – Doug Mazza, our President and Chief Operating Officer of Joni and Friends, is the one who oversees the day-to-day business of operating this ministry. Doug came to us out of the corporate world almost 12 years ago; the inspiration for this transition was his son Ryan, who has severe disabilities. As Doug often says, "Joni is the one with the vision, and I'm simply God's man to help implement that vision." And he does a great job of doing that. Currently, Doug is in China with our Wheels for the World team, as well as our Christian Institute on Disability leadership – he is helping to forge important relationships which will further our ability to reach for Christ disabled people and their families in the world's most populous nation! Pray for Doug and the team as they do the work of Joni and Friends in China!

ken tada fly fishing

I may be home resting up from our busy, wonderful trip to Washington DC for the National Day of Prayer, but my husband Ken is still on the road – or, I should say, roaming the Bahamian flats in his waders fly-casting for one of the most skittish sport fish around: bonefish. He and his Bible study buddies are pretty much isolated on one of the rougher islands, but he was able to call last night – so far, nine fat bonefish (he thanked me for praying :-). Thought you'd enjoy these fun photos!

Yes, we're back in LA, but when you love the Lord Jesus, home can be almost anywhere. Our recent trip to Washington, DC and Knoxville, TN was a little slice of heaven -- meeting so many new friends (like Christi in this fun photo), digging deep into the work of the kingdom, and sensing the Father's pleasure was, well...heavenly. What an honor it was to help lead the nation in prayer last Thursday -- the Caucus Room on Capitol Hill was filled to overwhelming and earnest, honest prayers on behalf of our country's leaders were lifted high to the throne of God. Ken and I are committed to making the National Day of Prayer a national year of intercession for government leaders, justices and the military...

Robin Hiser and Joni next to each other in Washington DCIt's early morning and we're heading home! God has been so gracious throughout this entire trip. During every leg, we felt His presence and experienced His joy as we sang and interceded from LA to DC to Knoxville and back. I am so grateful for your prayers -- and attached is a fun photo of me and my friend Robin Hiser with whom I spoke in DC. Psalm 84 was constantly on my heart as we went from "strength to strength" by the grace of our wonderful Savior!

Today we'll be having lunch at the Patricial Neal Rehab Center and then preparing for the "Share the Hope" anniversary banquet at the Knoxville Convention Center. It's all part fo the celebration for a wonderful decade of Christ-centered outreach to families affected by disability in East Tennessee. Tomorrow, on Saturday, I'll be speaking at our disability ministry training conference -- ask God to stir the hearts of all the Christian leaders present as we encourage them to reach out and embrace more disabled people and their families.

Even though the National Day of Prayer is behind us, the praise and intercession is still resonating throughout our nation. And it's in this joyful spirit of prayer that I leave today for Knoxville, Tennessee -- we're heading to east Tennessee to help our Joni and Friends team in Knoxville to celebrate 10 years of powerful ministry! Please be praying for safety as we travel... and happy hearts (and lots of singing) on our 7 hour drive south.

What a thrill it is this morning to wheel into the office of the U.S. Congress to lead our nation's government representatives, military leaders, and hundreds of fellow-Christians in prayer! Oh, how I pray that God will pour out his mercy upon us and energize us in our praise, worship, and intercession! It all starts 9 am EST and I'll be speaking to the gathering midmorning – in the audience will be Captain Ryan Voltin who was wounded in the war in the Middle East; Capt. Voltin and his family attended one of our first Wounded Warrior Getaways (I'm especially praying this day for the many thousands of brave American servicemen and women who have returned home from Iraq and Afghanistan bearing terrible wounds of conflict). Would you join me in praying the National Prayer…
