AmberSome plant, some water, but God makes it grow! ~ 1 Corinthians 3:6 Joni and Friends’ International Family Retreats provide families affected by disability a week of encouragement, rest and lots of FUN. But what happens when the wheelchairs have been distributed and the Bibles handed out? When the crafts have been packed away and loaded alongside suitcases headed back to America? A lot! In many countries, people with disabilities face crushing poverty, social stigma and isolation. While one week of ministry is a welcome respite, we know it is crucial to follow-up and continue coming alongside these families. Kevin, one of our in-country partners in China, goes the extra mile to ensure that life-changing ministry doesn’t end on the last day of an International Family Retreat. Amber has a physical disability that limits her ability to walk, but has no impact on her mental...

Girl serving through the CIDWe see headlines about birth defects, tragic accidents or surgeries gone wrong with the declarations that these lives should be ended because, “No one would want to live like this!” Human life can now be altered, aborted, cloned and euthanized, sometimes even against the will of family and loved ones. As Christians, we are called to make a difference in this brave, new and dangerous world. Through our Joni and Friends Christian Institute on Disability (CID) we strive to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Since 2007, the mission of the CID has been to impact the Church, Christian and public institutions, and societies with a biblical worldview and life-giving truth on issues pertaining to life, dignity, justice and equality that affect people with disabilities. You now have a new way to network with the CID through social media. Whether you're an alumni of a CID internship program, or you've completed our groundbreaking Beyond Suffering courses, join us on Facebook...

Intern serving at MMAWe love to see people picking up the cause to minister to individuals and families affected by disability in their churches and communities. And it’s always a delight to find a church or ministry that sees the impact that can be made by showering God’s love on those viewed as ‘the least of these.’ Jill’s House and McLean Bible church are two such warriors for the Gospel! Cause 4 Life Global Missions and Internships is honored to partner with both of these ministries in a new Ministry and Missions Academy on the East Coast. Intern holding an orphan in HaitiWhat comes to mind when you think of bootcamp? A lot of yelling… intense pain of aching muscles… sweat seeping into your clothes? Whatever the case, it’s not a pretty picture. So, why do it? Why cause your body so much pain? Because it is strength training, providing a jump start to a healthier lifestyle. Joni and Friends’ Ministry and Missions Bootcamp may not involve aching muscles, but it does call interns to stretch their faith and challenge what they believe it means to love others. This four week, intensive program trains interns in disability ministry, theology and practice, exposing them to the realities and the blessings that come with serving individuals and families affected by disability. Their faith will be tested during their trip to Haiti as they face the injustices of people affected by disability in a developing country. And along the way, God will break down their misconceptions revealing His love for the least of these. Join our team of interns in the Ministry and Missions Bootcamp for the summer of 2014, and expand your view...
