A Big Birthday "Thank You!"

joni celebrating her birthday with a cake from her friend giuseppeGiuseppe, owner of my favorite Italian restaurant, just dropped by moments ago to bring a tiramisu birthday cake – yum! Today is my birthday and I am praising God for His grace that has brought me this far, all the way to 63! I'm breaking all sorts of spinal-cord injury statistics, and I credit it all to God's amazing grace :-). And I want to thank you for responding to Ken's invitation to 'celebrate' with me through your gift of $63 to Joni and Friends – so many of you responded and I was overwhelmed by your comments and congratulations! I can't help but think of all the many more people with disabilities who will be reached for Christ through our efforts together – what a gift! Again, many thanks!

Happy Birthday Joni and many more years to you!. I turned 63 also in September and when I read that you had the accident in 1967, I just thought back to my life in 1967 at 18. I was so looking forward to enjoying life. How would I have coped with a disability. Joni, thank you for teaching us that God's grace is sufficient for us. You truly are an inspiration like no other.

Dear Joni, can I write a comment about your interview with Nancy Leigh DeMoss on this blog post? I just wanted to say that I loved your interview because you were so honest and real in your spiritual struggles, you weren't trying to sound super pious or above us all, you're so humble and and give God such glory, you are so kind-hearted and the kind of person people want to be around, thank you for your honesty and humility, it encouraged me and ministered to me in my own struggles and pain. I feel like I know you already, thank you for sharing your life with us, indeed we are not worthy, you wouldn't like to hear that but it is true and thank you for making me more aware of being compassionate towards those with disabilites. Happy Birthday Joni! You are an amazing woman of faith and wisdom. I lost my dad, who was 54, just two weeks after I gave birth to my second daughter. I devoured your book on Heaven...Your Real Home. Every word brought comfort and every story you shared helped open my heart and mind to truly grasp "HEAVEN." It was a life line. I praised God for you and that you write. Words cannot contain all of the emotion and spiritual blessing you gave in that book. If I don't get to meet you in this life, you are in my top 10 when I get to Heaven. And I will give you the huge hug I wish I could right now. Thank you for writing, thank you for demonstrating faith and being such a tremendous force for good in this hurting world. My mom mentioned that my grandma, Barbara Johnson, had the privilege of knowing you while she was here on earth. I pray that I could meet you too someday! Huge love, Tiffany Johnson-Myers
