Airport Miracle

Airport MiracleAirports may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of miracles, but it’s the perfect place for God to reveal Himself. It’s why on busy ministry trips, Ken and I always keep our eyes open for divine ‘appointments.’ One of those miracle-appointments recently occurred at the Newark airport.

We were happy to be heading home after a fruitful time on the East Coast, and our United gate agent, Alice, was checking us in for our flight to LAX. As we engaged her in conversation, we learned that her family in Puerto Rico had suffered much since Hurricane Maria. Near tears, Alice explained that her brother, Carlito, was missing – he lives right below a dam that had become unstable; over 70,000 people below it were panicking and leaving their homes. A week had passed, and Alice’s niece had been searching for Carlito, but had not found him. Right there at the ticket counter, we stopped everything and prayed for Alice and Carlito (thankfully, no one was waiting in line behind us). I pleaded for God to rescue her brother. We then took our tickets, hugged Alice, and headed to the TSA security line.

We were only 50 feet away from the United counter, when suddenly, we heard someone calling and running toward us – it was Alice! She was holding her cell phone and calling out, “They found him! Carlito is okay!” We dropped everything, huddled together in tears, and joined hands in prayer – right in the middle of the busy airport. How gracious of God to prod us to pray for Carlito, and then provide the answer seconds after we offered up intercession. So when you’re traveling, friend, keep your eyes open, and your heart ready to pray. You may just experience a miracle-appointment yourself.
