This is certainly not the letter I intended to write to you this month, but like you I have been deeply shaken by the reports of widespread tragedy coming from Haiti.
In that devastating natural disaster, thousands of victims of the earthquake have become permanently or temporarily disabled. Every day the need for wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches escalates as the injured are pulled from the rubble.
I’m asking for your quick, earnest, and prayerful response to those who are suffering in Haiti. With your help, we can ship hundreds of adult wheelchairs, pediatric wheelchairs, walkers, and canes to them right away – to be delivered in the power and love of Jesus Christ!

to a child or adult disabled by the earthquake in Haiti!
Right now, Joni and Friends is partnering with churches and other respected non-profit organizations already in Haiti who are asking for our wheelchairs and immediate help. In the midst of this overwhelming tragedy, we have the opportunity to join brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ who are responding to the urgent needs of the people there.

Our normal schedule of Wheels for the World distributions will go forward just as planned for 2010. The situation in Haiti requires us to supply and deliver wheelchairs above and beyond our previous plans. That’s why we need you to go above and beyond with us, to meet this additional, unforeseen need for wheelchairs.
